Heavy rain on Tuesday morning caused flooding in Montpellier. The tram
system stopped operating and several main roads were blocked. Some schools advised their pupils to stay at home. Around 8000 people lost electric power after violent thunderstorms in the Aveyron department on Monday night. All mainline trains were cancelled on Tuesday afternoon in Languedoc-Roussillon and about 30 in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. On Tuesday night the Gard and Hérault departments were affected by heavy rain and thunderstorms. Many secondary roads became impassable. The A9 motorway between Narbonne and Orange was closed overnight and the Nîmes-Montpellier motorway was blocked in places. At Lalonde-des-Maures in the Var department about 30 small boats in the harbour were wrenched from their moorings and thrown against the quayside. In Bormes-les-Mimosas and Le Lavandou 2 campsites had to be evacuated and some streets were flooded up to 1 metre deep. Colin Youngs Brussels |

I will share any photos they have managed to capture on their return. Joe |
