Default Sunset/Sunrise times for UK locations

Hi

A few months ago (I think) someone at u.s.w posted a link to a website
which gave sunset/sunrise times for various locations in the UK. You
could choose the town/city and the month of the year and it gave a list
of sunset/sunrise times for that month.

I believe the link was in a thread connected with why nights continued
to get lighter after the longest day and darker after the shortest day
(does that sound familiar? - given the subject the thread may have been
from about 3 months ago) I've searched google groups for the site, but
have had no luck. Does anyone know what the site is and do they have
the url? All I can find is a link to a freeware programme that displays
local sunrise/sunset times but that is not the site (it wasn't a
programme but rather an actual website where this information was
held).

Thanks

Robbie

It's not the site you're looking for, but if you know the latitude and
longitude of a place this site is of great use:

http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneYear.html

It plots an entire year's worth of sunrise/sunset data (along with options
such as twilight). The only downside is that it doesn't take summer time
into account, so you'll have to mentally adjust the times it provides.

Thanks.

Unfortunately that isn't the site - the one I was thinking of had a
large selection of UK locations to choose from (specifically, I'm after
Newcastle and that was definately on the drop down list, as well as
locations from the north of Scotland to Penzance).

Well, you can see the sunrise and sunset times for Canterbury on
http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/sun/

I knocked up (for a bit of fun, really) a map showing sunrise and sunset
times for the UK - you can select the date to show from the form at the
top of the page: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/sun/test.php

Sorry I don't have the site, but I think you're only partially right here.
Evenings continue to get lighter after 21st June for a few days. Mornings
reach their peak before 21st June.

Conversely in the winter, evenings turn the corner around 13th December,
but mornings not until around the new year (which is the other way around
to what you'd remembered).

I've always found

quite handy.

Still catching up! I tried this in Firefox and IE6 and can't get it to
work, no map gets displayed.
