Default Wet spell for NE England coming up

Hi, All,

It looks as if we are in for a cool, wet spell here. Already 22mm since
midnight and much more to come on a wet north-easterly. The set-up is a
classic for the sudden onset of autumn that can happen here as the wind
comes in off the North Sea. As long as it keeps away from London - we don't
need the rain to beat them these days.

Ken

14mm overnight according to automatic reading which is a little protected
from the East wind, cool 11.9c aswell and still raining

I see the fell forecast for today as temp of 7c at 3000ft - wouldn't be
pleasant today on the tops of the Pennines

Hi, Alan,

Great area, Thropton Show Saturday 17th? I think they have a fell race on
that day, you should have no problem with that coming from Whistlefield!
There's a beer tent as well which, some say, is more attractive.

Not a bad forecast for early next week, SW winds which are usually good for
NE England. Unlike this NE'ly!!

Best wishes,

Thanks for all that, Ken, we're in no rush to come home so will give
the show a try but not the race at my age.

Not too good here at the moment with spots of rain and temperature
11.4°C.

You beat me to it Ken - there's plenty to see in that neck of the woods.
The fells aren't quite as rugged as Loch Goil and the Arrochar Alps - we
used to go camping and hillwalking up there quite a lot - the kids put a
stop to the camping but the hillwalking can be done again at least with
my older daughter....

One I took with my old 35mm in the early 90's - the trees have since
closed canopy when we were birdwatching here in May. This isn't that far
away from Lochgoilhead.

- but I digress.

Newcastle Airport isn't that far away. In a word, dreich. Not a lot
better here near the coast:
