I have been unable to access even the home page for many days now:
www.unibe.ch and in particular, the satpics, eg: http://saturn.unibe.ch/rsbern/noaa/dw/realtime/n1b/ are sorely missed. Sure I can get Bernard's pictures (and weatheronline, etc) later in the day. But can anyone give me an alternative(or the correct) url for uni Bern? Jack |

I'm using IE6 at the moment and find it does from time to time refuse to load regularly visited sites from my 'Favourites' folder e.g Keith's site at Southend Weather. In these circumstances I found that using an alternative browser such as Mozilla or Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/ does the trick. www.unibe.ch Works fine from here Jack. snip I too am having no problems today getting to that site. This is weird. I have tried using three different browsers, Firefox, IE and Mozilla. None will give me access to uni Bern. My ISP is Nildram. Can a particular ISP fail to access to a particular url when clearly different ISPs do in fact work? Jack |

If your alternatives are numeric addresses, they are not guaranteed to work for ever. In fact, not for more than 24 hours which is the "time to live" that unibe.ch specify. You will need to go back to the names eventually. Think of it as an ATIS broadcast that has a pre-defined timeout, although the replacement may well be identical. You are sticking to Bravo while the approaching thunderstorm now means that Delta is current. Is is quite possible that the problem is on your own machine, in which case is is worth trying the appropriate procedure from he http://kb.indiana.edu/data/amoi.html...4651.94757.131 Mike |

(Not saying you have a bug or anything but) for everyone using Windows, this is the regimen that the people who write AVG recommend for keeping your PC clean: First ditch all the dead files you can with Disc Cleanup. Clear the Cache in Java Plug-in. Update all the following and run them in this sequence. CoolWebShredder AdAware Spybot Search & Destroy AVG Some "found" files in AVG's latest freebie need to be removed manually due to them being stored in zipped files or other places that the scanners can not touch. After finding and removing any problems, re-run the format above and you may find more. This may happen because some bugs were masked by the scumware removed in the first pass. -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |
