Surelly it was more of a north westerly, than a northerly
hence the reason this was so naff for se england and east anglia. If it was a straight northerly then east anglia wouldve had more in the way of snow! |

If I'd listened to the metcheque, two and UKMO forecasts I'd be makinking up
food parcels for all those poor stranded people in Kent! "nguk..." wrote in message ... Surelly it was more of a north westerly, than a northerly hence the reason this was so naff for se england and east anglia. If it was a straight northerly then east anglia wouldve had more in the way of snow! |

I don't know what the forecasts on Metcheck and TWO were because I don't surf their sites, but assuming they both ramped up the White Christmas thing (did they?), have they admitted they got it wrong about a White Christmas for most of the UK population? Or did they forecast "No White Christmas" for the areas who didn't get one? Just wondering. -- Dave |

Yeah, A standard 'northerly' as told by the BBC and others over the UK is
usually a NNW, although it's worth looking at the globe and the longitude lines and you can see a true Northerly will not appear a straight 180 , (I think). It seems it is scientifically impossible to get a straight Norterly down here in the SE due to that atlantic ridge, and lack of low to the South and other reasons. Don't think I've ever seen a real true Northerly (180 degrees) in any historic charts. No doubt it happens and we get snow here. Not these days of course! But I know what ya sayin' and I agree. I wish people would say NW 'cause it makes hell of a difference for the East, and more especially the SE. ------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- "nguk..." wrote in message ... ![]() "nguk..." wrote in message snip hence the reason this was so naff for se england and east anglia. Strange word - "naff" - to describe two beautiful sunny winter days in East Anglia. A mid-morning walk today along frosted footpaths is all I could have asked for. The only "naff" thing about today was a less-than-impressive performance by the England cricket team! We lost six wickets while I was out for my walk. Jack |
