I recorded my first ground frost of the autumn this morning, with an
air minimum of +1.9C. This is the earliest date I have ever recorded a ground frost. Trevor From a chilly spot in the Sidlaws, 10 miles NW of Bonnie Dundee, sunny East Scotland http://www.personal.dundee.ac.uk/~taharley/ |

Or according to a BBC Weather dude this morning, the first 'grass frost'. Is that a real term or did he jus make it up? Jim Our first ground frost / grass frost of the season this morning also. Not remarkably early for this site, as I have seen a few here in past Augusts (30.08.03 being the most recent). Never in July though. Air minimum was +1.0ºC, so not far from being the first September air frost since 19.9.97. Alex Wishaw. |

Felly sgrifennodd Alex Stephens Jr :
Our first ground frost / grass frost of the season this morning also. OK... for us gardeners, is it more or less likely that there will be a ground frost tonight (Friday), or any other night in the next few days? Last night's air minimum here was 5.3, so not very close. Adrian (260m/860ft asl, 12 miles ESE Aberystwyth) -- Adrian Shaw ais@ Adran Cyfrifiadureg, Prifysgol Cymru, aber.
