Surely even in Devon 18C can't be considered cold for mid-September?

Max here today just 13.1C and it was as low as 9.8C in an afternoon
shower (1505 BST). Now thats cold!!

Current temperature 5.9C.

Richard,
Aberdeen.

LOL too, my average day max here in Haytor in September is 15.9 deg C
and yesterday it reached the dizzy heights of 13 deg C and 14 deg C
today (17th) in the sunshine.

I'm now beginning to think about winter, chopped a load of logs today
and the log store is full ready for the bitter onslaught :-)

Will.

He he bit like that on Dartmoor sometimes Dave.
I'm often walking in tee-shirt and shorts only to meet other folk
wrapped up as if it was the height of winter!

Guess you get used to your own climate.

18C is not cold for September, even in lowland and sheltered Devon.
But I guess Nick has enjoyed such a great summer (like we all have down here)
that anything less than 20C is cold for *him* !

It was a hasty post but I really meant that the wind was making it feel cold
even though it was 18C!

You're right, it has been so warm that even 18C came as a bit of a shock to
the system. I'm off up Dartmoor for a bit of walking.

Must admit the current 17C feels a little bit on the chilly side compared to
what we've been used to. Regulatory shorts and t-shirt is still the order of
the day, however :-)

Jon. (fairly low and sheltered Mid-Devon)

You also get used to the temperatures you've been used to. For
instance, 17C seems cold in September but hot in March. Also, once the
first "cold" spell of autumn has taken place (the current one, in other
words) if the temperature goes up even slightly, it feels warm by
comparison.

Nick
