================================================== ===============
This forecast summary is my *PERSONAL OPINION* of how the weather may unfold next week. I will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for meteorology that I personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others. ================================================== =============== Summary valid for Sunday 02/10/05 to Saturday 08/10/05 TOI (time of issue) Saturday 30/09/05 1800 UK local time This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX, and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten High confidence that there will be plenty of dry and anticyclonic weather next week. Moderate confidence that later in the week a change to more unsettled conditions will come in gradually from the west. Low confidence on details of the expected change. Sunday looks like seeing a lot of cloud in most places with occasional light and patchy rain, but generally becoming dry with light winds and temperatures around normal. From Monday to Wednesday most places should be dry with variable amounts of cloud and some sunshine. generally light winds as an anticyclone transfers east across the UK to lie to the east of Britain by Wednesday. A stronger SW wind at times in NW Scotland may bring some light rain and drizzle. Also SE England may see some patchy rain coming in from the continent at times. Temperatures slightly above average with the chance of fog at night if skies clear. Frost unlikely. During Thursday to Saturday the anticyclone will edge further away eastwards allowing Atlantic frontal systems and strengthening southerly winds to move into western areas, eventually bringing spells of quite heavy rain, although timing of encroachment is uncertain. It is likely that by Saturday most places will have seen the change to rainy conditions. Temperatures staying above average with the risk of fog in the east but becoming too windy in western areas later for any fog. Frost unlikely. Some sunshine before the rain arrives in the west. Finally, Haytor meteorological office are pleased to announce that we will be resuming the extended outlook for two weeks ahead with every forecast from now on. So for the following week beginning 9/10/05 with moderate confidence it looks like turning very wet and unsettled. A deep low looks like becoming slow moving to the SW of Briatin threatening spells of heavy slow-moving bands of rain with the risk of flooding, especially in southwest England and Wales. Wet conditions should ease during the week as the low fills and moves away. Risk of gales early in the week. Temperatures around normal with only a low risk of frost.
