A mixed month with several interesting features.
Av. temp. = 12.9C (-0.3) Av. max. = 17.0 Av. min. = 8.8 Highest max = 23.8 (4th) Lowest min = 1.9 (16th) Total rain = 28.4 mm (54%) Wettest day = 6.4 mm (22nd) A very dry month, but also the most westerly month since January; that's the east coast of Scotland for you. Two new records were set: the maximum of 11.2 on the 9th was the lowest September maximum yet recorded, and the minimum of 1.9 on the 16th was the lowest minimum. The ground frost on the morning of the 16th was also the earliest ground frost I have recorded. It was also a very windy month, with two gales; indeed on the 26th our table was blown across the garden and broken. A personal note: I have now been here over ten years, so at last my means are meaningful! Now with this note posted I just need to go and find Southampton have won at Preston for it to be a Perfect Weekend so far ...
